![]() Heden is an arrogate, meaning it's his job to take on the burden of violence for other people. But he took an oath in love in his youth, which is hinted at throughout the book and explained better in Thief. Is it stated who Heden is being loyal too when he decides not to cheat? There was no chance of becoming one of the Green, why stay and watch the very bitter end? (best guess) That is when their hair reverted and they lost their power. Why did the Knights all loose their knighthoods right as they died? True, the Bishop sent him to fail, but had to be seen doing something. ![]() (considering Heden seemed to be purposely picked to be the most unsuitable for the task). ![]() Why did Halcyon think that if Heden couldn't see it, then no one could?Īs you'll find in more of in Thief, Heden's empathy is one of his strengths. They murdered their commander for disobeying the Bishop's direct order (and trying to go save Olgham Keep). They were ashamed of what they did (and possibly made a pact not to talk about what happened) and also saw him as an outsider, of the same sort that sent the non-sensical order to stand down against the army. ![]() Why were the knights unable to tell Heden what happened? ![]() It's why he didn't help kill the commander and why he couldn't rat out his brothers.
